This recipe for Black Forest Torte is made from layers of flourless chocolate cake, chocolate ganache, homemade whipped cream, and cherry pie filling. It’s so easy and such a beauty! This recipe combines three of my very favorite recipes that are already on the blog: flourless chocolate cake, chocolate ganache, and homemade whipped cream. Each one of these recipes is a homerun recipe all on it’s own. But put them all together and literally add the cherry on top? It just doesn’t get any better than this. Recipe Notes & Tips In this recipe, I picked the cherries out of the pie filling and used them in a separate layer. I did this because I really wanted a gorgeous cherry center layer that broke up the chocolate and the whipped cream. But when I tried just adding the entire pie filling, the center glooped out and the cake didn’t hold it’s shape. Using the method that I did accomplished the look I wanted and gave the cake stability at the same time. However, feel free to just spread the pie filling on top of the whipped cream if you don’t care about having a center layer of cherries.Use any garnish you want for the top! White chocolate and chocolate shavings or curls would be beautiful! I used miniature chocolate chips, because they are so easy! I also added some almond slices, because I like having a little crunch in each bite. They break up the other colors and textures nicely. If you don’t have a springform pan, that’s okay! You’re torte will just have a slightly more “rustic” look, and that can be beautiful too. If you’re not using a springform pan, you’ll probably want to plan on using a little less ganache and not all of the cherry pie filling so that it doesn’t all go sliding off the edges of the cake.
