I had a blast attending the conference, and it was such a neat experience to be able to teach a class alongside Lindsay from Artsy Fartsy Mama! However, I did have some technical difficulties and didn’t get to cover all of the material I wanted to. So I made a video tutorial covering all of the major points I wanted to hit. I hope you find it helpful! (and be sure to block out a little bit of time for this one, it’s 30 minutes!)
Great video! I had no idea that I could copy the color on the circles like you did for the icons. Will definitely make Picmonkey a little easier. Thanks Reply
Hi, I just wanted to drop by and say thank you for this video. I have teken the time to spruce up my blog a little more. Thank you so much! Check it out and let me know what you think. Reply
This video was so helpful! I’m a really visual person so it helped seeing what you were doing – and I love how your demo header was so much nicer than anything I’ve made! Haha. I never knew you could get rid of the standard Blogger header – I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get social media icons into the header and now I can do it. Thanks so much for making this video! I can’t wait to spruce up my blog! Reply
Wow, this was SO helpful, Ashton! Thanks SO much for sharing this! I love your blog design, but thought I could never do anything like it cause it’s so hard, but after watching this video, I’ve realised that it’s not so scary after all. Only thing is I have my own wordpress website (not wordpress.com I don’t think…), so I’m not sure if I can make an image with a menu bar and social media buttons… Reply
You can! It’s how I designed my header 🙂 Just use the Simple Hooks Plugin, it allows you to add HTML in your header area. I can’t remember how I went about deleting my header, but I think you can google it… Reply
Ashton, thank you SO much for the tutorial . I watched this on Saturday and immediately went to design my own social media icons. I never knew about the image mapping website, and it seriously made it SO easy. I am not 100% happy with the size and placement o my social media bar, but I am slowly figuring it out! Thanks again! Seriously, this is the most helpful blog design tutorial ever! You ROCK! My blog definitely needs a makeover so I will be utilizing this in my free time. For real, my husband just might think I’m off my rocker when I do away with the housework this week and instead get to work on my {much needed} blog makeover! Thanks again!! Reply
I was there at the conference! You did an amazing job and I’m so glad you posted it here as well. I pinned it to Pinterest so I always have it to refer to. Thank you! Reply
