Pink Angel Cupcakes 51

Hey, Swanky readers.  My name is Jocelyn and I blog over at BruCrew Life.
I am so excited to be here on Ashton’s blog.
She has been super busy getting all the details together for the Online BlogCon,
and I knew I wanted to help out any way I could.
Ashton decided it was going to be a Pink Week to help raise awareness for breast cancer.
I knew that was something I wanted to help promote.

My own mom battled and survived breast cancer at the age of 29.

I am very thankful for all the research and money that people have donated over the years
for cancer research, because my mom is able to be with us today.

This summer we all got together and enjoyed a fun week at the beach.
I am glad my mom is able to enjoy seeing all her grandchildren too!!!

There are so many great foundations such as the Susan G. Komen foundation
or different races in your area that benefit BCA.

/br>

Please consider donating to one of these, so more patients can share time with their families.
And also depending on how old you are, consider going for a mammogram to keep yourself healthy.

My mom was very young when she found out, and that means I have a greater chance of having it too.
So I have had a few mammograms already to stay ahead of it.

The test is fairly simple and doesn’t hurt, so there is no reason to not have it done.
The goal is to catch it in an early stage so it can be removed without a fatality.

I definitely want to be around to see my children grow up too.

My mom doesn’t live very close to us, but if she did I would make her one of these
delicious Strawberry Nutella Braids and we would enjoy a chat over coffee.

Maybe the next time we get together, this will be on the menu.
I know she is reading this too, so Mom, I love you:-)

Strawberry Nutella Braid

Ingredients

  • 1 can crescent rolls (8 oz.)
  • 1/4 c. strawberry cream cheese
  • 1/4 c. Nutella spread
  • 1/3 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. milk
  • sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Roll out the crescent rolls and press together the seams.
  2. Spread the cream cheese down the center of the rolls, staying about two inches from each side. Carefully spread the Nutella on top of the cream cheese.
  3. Using a sharp knife, make cuts about 1 1/2 inches apart along both sides of the rolls, stopping about a 1/2 inch from the filling.
  4. Alternately cross the strips on either side across the filling. Tuck the end under and press to seal.
  5. Bake at 375* for 12-14 minutes. Let cool.
  6. In a bowl, combine the powdered sugar and milk. Drizzle over the braid and top with sprinkles. Cut into 10 - 12 slices.

Thank you so much Ashton for letting me be a part of your Pink Week.
I am so happy to be able to help you out!!!

  1. What a wonderful post, and such a beautiful braided bread to go along with it. What a blessing to have your mom with you:) My mom and two of her sisters had breast cancer also. Though my mom sadly succumbed to ovarian cancer in her 50’s, I’m grateful that she survived the breast cancer in her 30’s.

  2. I ran the Race for the Cure back in June this year, and it was so emotional reading all those signs on everyone’s backs. The one I remember read “my mother, my aunt, my sister.” Tears!
