These Choc-Oat-Chip cookies are a peanut butter-less version of Monster Cookies and one of my mom’s favorite cookie recipes! Add a dozen to your holiday cookie plate and spread some Christmas cheer! “Our hearts grow tender with childhood memories and love of kindred, and we are better throughout the year for having, in spirit, become a child again at Christmas-time.” -Laura Ingalls Wilder “He who has not Christmas in his heart will never find it under a tree. ” -Roy L. Smith “One of the most glorious messes in the world is the mess created in the living room on Christmas day. Don’t clean it up too quickly.” -Andy Rooney “Christmas is a necessity. There has to be at least one day of the year to remind us that we’re here for something else besides ourselves.” -Edward Sevareid “Unless we make Christmas an occasion to share our blessings, all the snow in Alaska won’t make it ‘white’.” -Bing Crosby It was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well, if any man alive possessed the knowledge. May that be truly said of us, and all of us! And so, as Tiny Tim observed, “God Bless Us, Every One! -Charles Dickens “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!” -Elf Continue to Content M&M Choc-Oat-Cookies Yield: approximaty 4 dozen Print Ingredients 1 cup butter, softened 1 1/4 cup packed brown sugar 2 eggs 2 tbsp milk 2 tsp vanilla 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 cup plain M&Ms Optional: 2 cups melting chocolate* (or chocolate chips) Instructions Preheat oven to 350ºF. Beat butter and brown sugar until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing in between additions. Add milk and vanilla. Mix until creamy. Add all-purpose flour, oats, baking soda, and salt. Mix until dough forms. Mix in by hand: chocolate chips and M&Ms. Spoon heaping tablespoons (or use a cookie scoop) on to a parchment or silicone lined baking sheet. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until edges turn golden brown and the center of the cookie is set. Cool on the cookie sheet before removing to a wire rack. Optional: Once cookies have cooled, dip the bottom of the cookies in melted chocolate. Place cookies on a piece of parchment paper. Once chocolate has cooled, peel the paper away from the cookie and serve. Notes *I prefer melting chocolate instead of chocolate chips because it hardens quicker and sets better. However, chocolate chips will work too (and taste better), but they will melt some on your hands even once completely set. Method: to "dip" the cookies in chocolate, I usually place a teaspoon of melted chocolate on the parchment paper, and then place the cookie on top of the chocolate, pressing gently until I see chocolate ooze out to the edges. Don’t miss a bite! Connect with Something Swanky: Be sure to check out these other great recipes!
