This PB mousse is made from 3 simple, healthy ingredients: peanut butter, Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt, and a little bit of nonfat milk. I know I’ve mentioned Dannon’s Greek yogurt before (remember this Skinny Funfetti Cake Batter Dip?), but just to re-emphasize: the brand matters in this recipe. I’m not a major Greek yogurt fan in general. There are a few select ways I can really enjoy (and even prefer) the “hardcore” stuff (like Chobani), including my PB Apple Dip and this Pecan Honey Chia Seed Yogurt Bowl. That being said: I think Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt tastes like Cool Whip with a similar consistency (when you whisk it with a little milk), and I adore it for healthi-fying recipes, because it packs a serious protein punch and is low cal. Of course… feel free to use whatever brand you’d like, but know that Greek yogurt flavors vary greatly by brand depending on how they sweeten the yogurt. So if you opt to use a more “sour” tasting brand, just be aware that your results are going to taste different than mine. Add more or less milk to taste. Serve immediately or chilled. Optional: add mini chocolate chips.
I love combining peanut butter and Greeek yogurt to make a mousse-like substance. Great idea to add a little milk as it is a bit thick otherwise. Reply
This is value-eating! Stretching the PB with some yogurt, now that’s smart! Means I can have extra ๐ pinned! Reply
This is a cool idea, and I’m sure it’s delicious…but with 500 calories in the peanut butter alone, I’d hardly call this healthy. Reply
You can use the powdered peanut butter instead. I use that all the time mixed with whipped cream. Delicious. Reply
Could this recipe work with regular yogurt? Like Dannon Light and Fit? I just don’t like the taste of greek yogurt. Thanks. Reply
You could try it, but probably wouldn’t get the same consistency of this one. The Dannon Light and Fit Greek style yogurt is actually pretty darn good (I’m not a Greek yogurt fan either)– much less sour than other brands! Reply
Ashton, this sounds amazing. I am a total mousse nut and I am pumped that this is light so I can eat it ALL! Reply
This sounds so delicious but 1/3 cup pb has around 500 calories and 30or more grams of fat. Add in the approximately 100 calories for a Greek nonfat yogurt and it can be close to 600 calories for this treat. I’ve done vanilla or plain yogurt with peanut butter powder and a lower calorie sweetener for a fraction of the calories. Give it a try! Reply
I was excited to come across this simple recipe! I see some other comments about how “healthy” or “not healthy” this really is, and I will say that I was thinking the same thing once I saw how much peanut butter was required for this. The ingredients are simple and healthy, but it does take a few servings of peanut butter, which is the culprit in bringing up the calories and fat count (sodium, too, if you’re watching that as I am). Having said that, I didn’t see that as a reason to discount the recipe because I really wanted to try it! ๐ I think it could be cut into halves or thirds for serving size to appease those of us that want something that fits easily into a healthy day’s food intake. A small, rich, delicious snack with loads of protein and some calcium to boot…I can’t complain about that! I also think this would be fantastic piped into a few mini chocolate pie crusts (can you say make-shift peanut butter pie?! YUM!). Thanks for sharing! I hope my tweaking suggestions were welcome. ๐ Stephanie Reply
This is a great tasting recipe but it’s really not that low in calories. Its close to 565 calories. How is that healthy. Reply
Portion control ๐ And low calorie does NOT necessarily equal healthy!! There are tons of low cal foods that are definitely not healthy. And tons of higher cal foods that are VERY healthy. Healthy fats are an important part of a nutritious diet. Especially for children! Reply
I made this with a 100 calorie single serve Greek yogurt and one teaspoon of peanut butter and 1 tbsp dark chocolate chips. That gets it down to about 280 calories. Makes a fabulous protein packed breakfast.ย Reply
